About this play

Written by William Shakespeare, this “true-crime” story was the FIRST of his tragedies, and the birth-play for themes that would arise again in Othello, King Lear, and MacBeth. Wildly popular in his day partly because* it was considered so outrageous, today it reads as a wake-up call.
